Once just heathland, Bournemouth has a rich history and is now a top destination on the beautiful south coast of England. With miles of sandy beaches and some enticing surf, Bournemouth is a great place not just to holiday but to live and work.
Developed by the Victorians, by 1840 the village of Bournemouth had been created. In 1851, with a population of just 695, building work continued and what would become the town of Bournemouth would grow rapidly. By 1901 the population of Bournemouth had reached 59,000.
The town showcases an eclectic mix of architectural styles, gardens, and granduer. From the fabulous Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum in the Art Nouveau style, to the Victorian Gothic Revival seen in St Peter's Church, to the Edwardian Manor Houses of an increasingly affluent town.
Home to world class exhibition and concert venue the Bournemouth International Centre, the grade II listed Bournemouth Gardens, a wide variety of restaurants and bars and a growing centre for finance, insurance and tech, Bournemouth is a great place to live and work.
